What Is E-Commerce

What is e-commerce? e-Commerce, also known as eCommerce, is short for ?electronic commerce.? Great. So what?s ?electronic commerce,? then? Simple. It?s buying and selling stuff over the Internet. ?Stuff? can include goods, services, or both. e-Commerce covers a broad range of businesses, from stores selling specific products, to auctions, to (legal, paid-for) downloading of music and movies. It has become one of the most important results of the spread of the Internet.

Think about it. You can go online, buy a book, and have it delivered to your door the next day, without ever setting foot in a bookstore. It seems so natural now, but people couldn?t always do that. When it comes to buying and selling stuff, barriers of time and distance mean very little anymore. e-Commerce has grown incredibly fast over the last few years. Expect this to continue, or even accelerate. Also, you can expect the line between ?regular? and ?e? commerce to blur more and more. Almost every kind of business will be done at least partly over Internet.

What is e-commerce? It?s a new way of doing business, relying on innovations in moving money and information around electronically, marketing goods and services over the Internet, processing the actual transaction online and Internet security. The explosive growth of e-commerce creates amazing opportunities. The chance of getting rich inspires people to invent new and better ways of doing all this. Modern e-commerce usually relies mostly on the World Wide Web, at least in part, although it can involve quite a range of technology from the old-fashioned phone call, to email, to dedicated electronic connections between the business and the customer.

Businesses also sell stuff to other businesses, rather than to consumers, over the Internet. Business to business e-commerce is usually referred to as ?B2B?. Manufacturers buy parts, retail stores buy from wholesalers, everybody hires programmers, and more and more of this is getting done over the Internet. e-Commerce has a lot of advantages over old-fashioned approaches for B2B. Done right, e-commerce is faster, cheaper, more convenient and can reach more potential customers.

It?s worth mentioning that when we describe e-commerce as buying and selling stuff over the internet, it doesn?t quite tell the whole story. It isn?t just selling, e-Commerce also includes passing data back and forth in order for financing and payment to happen. After all, what is the point of selling stuff if you don?t get paid for it?

Oh, one more thing. You know that tiny little lower case ?e? at the beginning of the word e-commerce? Ever wonder why it?s not a large, beefy upper case E? The answer is simple: the e stands for electronic, and electronic, literally, means having to do with electrons. Electrons are the sub-atomic particles whose moving around gives us energy in the form of electricity. The scientific symbol for electron is a small e.

What is e-commerce? Business done electronically. Buying and selling stuff over the Internet. What is e-commerce? Soon, it may be all commerce.

Understanding The Principals Of Marketing For Online And Offline

Almost every product or service sold in the world today falls under the principals of marketing. Even people who are in the public eye all of the time have to find a way to market themselves. This is why it?s important for any new business or service provider to understand the principals of marketing. You cannot simply put your information up and expect people to come flocking to your product. There are subtle things that you must accomplish in order to get your business marketed properly.

For example, one of the main ideas behind anything being represented is actually not how to push it onto people but, rather, what is the social responsibility behind a product or service? When people buy something, they want to know that they are buying into the greater good. Telling people who are looking at your product that their support of your company will somehow affect more than just their pocket book leaves them with a good feeling. Customers who experience a good feeling with a business are almost sure to return.

Another important aspect of the principals of marketing is known as target marketing. This idea is that you do not merely put your business up somewhere and advertise in as many places as you can for as long as you have money is not really a good one.

Take the Super Bowl advertisements as a good way of demonstrating this. People who watch the Super Bowl are generally men and women who are interested in sporting activities. Therefore, placing a commercial for a doggy day care center during this time slot wouldn?t be worth it no matter how much exposure you got because it would have missed your target audience.

The audiences you should be aiming at for this kind of service are probably watching the puppy bowl on the Animal Planet channel. So while you wouldn?t have as many people watching your ad, you would have more people who were interested in your business learning about it through the commercial. Chances are that if they are watching this cuddly puppy-filled playtime, they have dogs of their own or are thinking of getting a dog. Your day care idea might appeal to them more so than the average sports fan watching the real Super Bowl.

You also need to consider the types of marketing distribution you are doing and how that matches up with your business. If you offer a service like the doggy day care, then advertising it in the next state would not do you any good because no one is going to drive that far to drop their dog off to board. You need to concentrate your marketing efforts where they will be the most effective for your company, and once you do that, you?ll be sure to see results. Remember, according to the principals of marketing, you should not spend time, energy or money on something that reaches people outside your area of service.

Don’t Go Broke Trying to Build an Online Business

Spending the Big Bucks

Are you a serial IM product buyer? Are you spending money left and right in hopes of finding the perfect internet business system? Do you find yourself hitting the BUY NOW button day after day, believing that you’re about to find the missing link in your moneymaking chain?

If you’re spending a fortune on your business, you’re not the only one. Many IMers are on the buy-buy-buy-and-buy-some-more treadmill.

There’s nothing wrong with that, either. It’s entirely reasonable to invest in new strategies and tools to fine-tune your profitable IM enterprises. It’s sane and sensible to invest in new strategy guides to stay abreast of changes in the industry and to get your hands on innovative ideas. However, there is a problem with running on the BUY NOW treadmill if you’re not making any money.

Buying new tools to stay ahead of the games is very different from desperately making purchases in hopes of finding base-level success.

You want to be the smart investor. You don’t want to be the person who’s spent $40,000 on IM products and still isn’t making regular sales.

The Right Kind of Purchase

How can you avoid dumping too much cash into things you don’t really need? You need to build a solid foundation for your business. If you look at the core of Internet marketing, it’s really rather simple.

You need a product to sell. You must have a way to sell the product. You need to bring traffic to your the site you’ll use to make sales.

That’s it. All of your efforts should relate to one of those basic needs.

That means that you should start by building a solid foundation on all three fronts. Anything you buy as you’re building your business needs to address the construction of that foundation.

Before you start reaching for details, tweaks, adjustments and tricks, you need to develop your core means of making online money. Once you have the basics in place, you’re going to start making money. After you’re making money, you can being looking at those extras and adjustments.

How to Build Your Foundation

Getting the core of your business in place doesn’t require a massive investment. Here’s what you need to do.

  • Learn how Internet marketing works on a holistic, big picture level. You can get that kind of perspective from someone with successful IM experience.
  • Make traffic a top priority. As noted, traffic is one of the three keys to a solid foundation. It’s arguably the most important component. Until you have adequate traffic, you won’t be able to find out if your products are attractive or if your copy is converting. You need to get people to your site as soon as possible.
  • Find a source of ongoing assistance. A smart ebook can be worth its weight in gold. Instructional videos can really help. However, there’s nothing like developing an ongoing connection with a coach or mentor who has a history of success and a willingness to show you the ropes. Good mentoring increases efficiency, makes it easier for you to build a foundation, and allows you to avoid common mistakes.
  • Don’t overexpose yourself. You want to meet your objectives without risking significant losses. Find opportunities to get the essentials at bargain prices. Find a way to develop a valuable relationship with a personal business coach or mentor at a reasonable price.

The Ugly Truth About Free Marketing Leads

A marketing lead is the identity of a person or company who might be interested in purchasing goods or services. It?s the first stage of the selling process. The lead may have a business associated with them. Free marketing leads often come from trade shows, advertising, or even rude, aggressive techniques like cold-calling numbers from your local phone book. Cold calls, incidentally, aren?t very effective.

Think about it ? you don?t know who these people are, what they need or want, and they aren?t at all aware of your product or service.

Contact information doesn?t become a marketing lead unless and until the person behind the contact information has some specific reason why they?d be more interested in your product or service than the man on the street. In other words, you have to know something about them. What they like, and more importantly what they need, especially if what they need has something to do with what you do or sell.

If you drop the words ?free marketing leads? in your search engine, chances are it will generate page after page of hits. Chances, are almost all of these hits will be pretty dodgy, ranging from Multi-Level-Marketing schemes (that?s the polite name for pyramid scams) to ?companies? whose sole purpose is to rip you off by selling you lists of free leads. Wait a minute ? if they?re selling you leads, then the leads aren?t free, right? You?d think. But apparently there truly is a sucker born every minute.

Another kind of ?free marketing lead? ? one of those kinds that at some point in the chain, you?ll probably be expected to cough up some cash for ? is lists of emails. Often the seller of the list claims that these emails are pre-filtered to be relevant to exactly what you are selling. Often enough, this same seller sells the same list to every would-be marketer, regardless of what that would-be marketer is actually trying to market.

In other words, these leads have the proverbial snowball?s chance in a well-known, hot, unpleasant place of ever generating sales. They?re basically a way of cold calling. In other words, if you?ve always dreamed of becoming a spammer, this is the way to go.

Sales leads are, obviously, leads that can lead directly to sales. Marketing leads are slightly different. These are targeted leads that are brand-specific rather than product specific. What makes your brand special? Do people know what you do? How you do it? Who you are? Think about who needs what you do. This is the first step in generating genuine marketing leads.

Perhaps the best, most honest, most dignified source of free marketing leads is your own website. People who visit your website do so for a reason. If they visit more than once, they?re genuinely interested in what you do, who you are, and how you do what you do. These are genuine free marketing leads, and about as precisely targeted as you could hope for. Are you going to follow up, or are you going to let them slip away?

Ride The Wave – Create A Social Media Marketing Strategy

One of the hardest thing for any marketer to do, whether on-line or off, is to create a stir around what they are trying to offer. You have to have some level of excitement surrounding your product or service for it to see any success at all. It can seem like you are beating your head against a wall many times as you try to get anyone to notice you and to get them to even care. I am sure that you think that you have something that is very important to offer people. Unless you can educate and convince them that it is important, they just won’t get it and you won’t get their business.

There is a way that you can get by without having to do all the work of trying to generate excitement and educate the people about your offering. That way is to let the larger media outlets do all the work. Create a marketing strategy that uses that work that the media does. Sometimes you will luck out and find that there is a big commotion related to something you are offering already and it will only take a little bit to get the social groups interested in what you have.

Sometimes you will have to use your imagination and find a relationship between something big that is going on in the media that has a huge impact on social groups of one kind or another. Once you find that relationship, though, you can find a marketing strategy that can make that connection obvious. You will have to educate yourself and look at what is hot on television or on the Internet. Look for what are popular topics on the regular news media, what trends are hot in the world of finance, or what gossip is going on in social circles. What are the things that are popular? More than likely you are going to find something that your product or service can relate to.

There are times, though, that it might be good to look at the media and decide on a product or service that is timely, that social groups of one kind or another are buzzing about. Choose something that there is already a lot of excitement about. Watch trends and if you see something that is starting to gain some attention in certain social circles, it may be something that takes off and has widespread appeal. Take advantage of these things.

On your own you will be trying hard to make waves about what you are trying to market but what you will end up making is a tiny ripple. A smart marketer will notice the tsunami’s being made by the larger media outlet and will use a marketing strategy that capitalizes on the huge splash they make on the bigger social groups laying on the beach.

How and why to build an email list

Even if you’re new to Internet marketing, you’ve heard the same old saying a thousand times. The money is in the list. Building your own list is one of the last legitimate home based business opportunities. You must learn how to build a list in order to reach your potential.

Why it works

Marketing research reveals that most people don’t make a purchase after one exposure to a marketing message. Repeated encounters are a key to generating sales. You have the chance to share your messages repeatedly with those who are a part of your list.

People are also more likely to buy from those with whom the feel a trusting connection. List building allows you to build a relationship with your subscribers. Relationship building creates an opportunity to encourage sales.

How to do it

List building is an easy home based business strategy and it all starts with a squeeze page. A squeeze page is a landing page designed with a single purpose. It should persuade the reader to become part of your list. Anything else is completely extraneous.

The use of a free gift is an effective way to persuade visitors to join your list. This time-tested strategy can substantially boost your bottom line.

It’s not enough to have a good freebie, though. You also need to build your squeeze page the right way. There are certain squeeze page strategies that produce the best results. You should be using those moneymaking approaches. That will involve closely following three important guidelines.

Squeeze page basics

First, your squeeze page should be free of all outgoing links with the exception of the “submit” button on your sign up form. You want your squeeze page to inspire sign ups, not to provide guests with an avenue to move on to other sites or pages.

Second, the squeeze page should feature a powerful, brief message. You want your squeeze page to generate those sign ups – everything else is extraneous and will decrease effectiveness. Remember that your squeeze page is there for a single reason – to build your list. You should choose every word with that goal in mind.

Third, you will want to approach the sign up process as if it were as important as a big sale – close that deal! That means that you will need to make a strong, persuasive call to action as part of your sign up form. Clearly communicate the value of subscribing to those reading the page.

Summary

A good inducement and a squeeze page built with these three recommendations will get the job done. That will give you the opportunity to develop an effective relationship with prospects. You’ll also be able to put your message in front of subscribers repeatedly.

You will take your Internet marketing efforts to the next level if you learn how to build an email list. The fact that so many successful marketers embrace list building isn’t an accident. The money really is in the list!

Proven Online Product Marketing Tips

It is not necessary to recreate the wheel every time you want to start a campaign to market your products or services. Instead, you can look to the best practices of what other online businesses have done in the past for proven online product marketing tips. You can learn both from the mistakes and successes of other businesses, so long as you effectively incorporate those ideas into your own marketing strategy.

An important marketing tip to follow is to remember the needs of your potential clients as your primary focus. Another important tip to follow is to study the competition and learn as much as possible from what you observe. Finally, it is so important that you are the absolute expert in your field, so that you can market yourself in the most effective methods possible.

How well do you know your potential clients? You first need to understand that no matter how valuable the products and services that you offer, they will not appeal to everyone. Instead of trying to market your products to entities who will never be interested, you should instead set your sights on those individuals who will actually be interested in what you have to offer.

Forget about segments of the marketplace that are yet untapped. You may be able to go back later and find ways to reach out that will be effective to your overall marketing strategy. But until you?ve achieved success with your target customer groups, you cannot spend time looking at clients that are a long shot.

What do your competitors do well? What do they do not so well? You should constantly be observing how your competitors deal with their businesses. You can rely heavily upon your own observations.

In addition, you can ask trusted friends or current clients to look at the offerings and practices of your competition to find ways to emulate their successes or change practices to avoid the ways in which they have not been as successful. Proven online product marketing tips can come from nearly any observation you make about the businesses of your competition.

Finally, you must be an absolute expert in the field in which you do business. How else can you expect your customers and clients to trust you, if you do not know more about what you have to offer than any of your competitors?

Learn about your products and services inside out. If they are products and services that you have developed on your own, you should carefully document every piece of knowledge possible about them. If they are third party products or services, you should read all documentation that is provided, test out the products and services so that you know how to use them inside and out. When you don?t know the answer you need to know how to find the appropriate experts of whom to ask questions whenever they may arise.

By using the above proven online product marketing tips and others, you can be well on your way to achieving success for your business.

Internet Marketing Principals Put Into Action

Many companies spam their clients and people, but companies that advertise through spamming methods are not following the internet marketing principals that would best market their products. One of the largest complaints that people have about the Internet is spam, and they ignore anything that looks even remotely spammy.

An important means of reaching people through the internet is often done through target marketing. This is the idea that instead of spamming one hundred people and hoping that two like your product, you focus on people and online groups who are already interested in similar goods or services.

It?s true that by doing this you will significantly decrease the amount of exposure you get, but this also means that you will reduce the amount of bad publicity you get as well. All of the people that you sent email advertisements to that weren?t interested in your merchandise are going to think that your company is merely one of those fly by night spamming operations.

Even if you?re not, it won?t change the way they think of your product and their perception of your business practices. However, if you can focus your marketing ideas on groups of people, who you know are interested in similar things, then you increase your likelihood of having good corresponding sales figures. Internet marketing principals are not that different from other means of promoting something.

One of the more important rules is to know what people will pay for your product. Too many times people don?t properly estimate the value of their product or service.

The first time many people see an advertisement or commercial, they form an opinion of what is being marketed. If they see something they think is priced too low, they might decide that it?s made with lower quality parts and decide they don?t want to buy it. If they think it?s priced too highly then they may think it out of their price range and discount it immediately.

This is why it?s never a bad idea to look around online at what your competitors may be charging for similar products. The idea behind this is to get your price slightly lower than what they are charging; so that people think they?re getting a good deal on something. Of course, make sure that it?s not so good of a deal that they start wondering about quality.

If you are still having problems pricing your items, then you could go to a message board and see if there are any discussions that might give you an idea of what people are willing to pay. Many times this is the kind of research that large public relations firms do for their clients.

Remember to keep everything you do as professional as possible and don?t be too pushy. You shouldn?t have a problem learning how to safely and easily promote your company, especially if you put these internet marketing principals into action.

Get indexed, get ranked, get traffic

It’s undeniable that the one thing you need to succeed in your online business is traffic. And nothing beats free traffic. And where’s the best place to get free traffic? Google and other search engines.

How does Google give out free traffic?

The process works in a way that you have experienced many many times. You load up Google or another search engine. Enter the words you’re interested in. Then you click on one of the pages that in displayed. Well, the link you clicked on just send free traffic to that website owner. We will be discussing here how to get website traffic to you for free.

If you’re like most people you only click links on the first page or two. Actually, almost 100% of the free traffic goes to this first page of results. What’s even more amazing is the the first 3 links get more than 70% of the free traffic.

This means that to get any real traffic you need to be on the first page in Google. And this means Google needs to “rank” you as a top 10 result. Which brings up..

What is search engine optimization?

Search Engine Optimization is a measure of how well Google and other search engines think your website matches the search terms people are typing into their search boxes. The intricate formula Google uses to figure this out is really only known by Google. But there are several things that we know for sure.

Getting indexed

Before you can get ranked, Google has to first know your site exists. This is called getting “indexed.” What this means is that Google visits your site and records information about it in their database.

In order to get indexed, Google has to be able to find you. Getting a link from another site will accomplish this easily. Since some of these site will already be indexed, Google will follow the links on their pages and find you.

Use your Twitter and Facebook updates to get quick indexed links to your site. Because these sites are indexed multiple times every day. So any new links will be followed right away.

Gaining ranking

After this first hurdle, you need to start gaining ranking. Just getting indexed does you almost no good, considering that Google has billions of pages in their database.

Here’s what’s important in ranking:

  • Content
  • Links
  • Activity

Content strategies

This is the SEO you do on your site itself. And it means that the content on your page matches the keywords you’re targeting. The topic of this article is clearly SEO. Google knows that not just because the words search engine optimization show up. And another way this is determined is by the other related phrases like traffic generation that are also in the article.

In addition to the content on the page, other things to keep in mind are the title tags on the page, and the domain name itself. Each of these plays a roles in Google determination about your site.

Link juice

Next, you need to pay attention to the links to and from your site. The links to your site, as well as the sites you link to are important. You want to make sure you have more inbound links than outbound links. And the more inbound links the better.

A very easy way to get a lot of links to your site is through article marketing. To use this technique you write articles related to the topic of your websites. Then create a bunch of different versions of it. And post unique versions to lots of websites that accept articles. And the more you do the better.

Increasing your activity

Finally, we know that Google gives you credit for the activity on your site. You can’t just put up a page and leave it alone and expect it to rank well. Google expects you to be updating your site regularly. You can do this with RSS feeds and news posts.

Comments from other people on your page are another fantastic way to keep your content updated. To get comments from others, you need to get others to visit your site. Online forums are simple source of real live visitors.

Create profiles on lots of forums about your site’s topic. Visit often and make posts. And link back to yourself in your signature file. This generates even more links back to your site. And it also gets people to your web page.

Conclusion

Each step listed above is critical. However, writing a bunch of different articles on the same topic. Creating profiles on a ton of forums. And posting your articles and comments takes a lot of time. And you’re already too busy, so you mostly likely will never do any of it.

However, rank builder software exists. And it automates everything we’ve just talked about. So my best advice is to automate as much of this as you can. Otherwise, you won’t do it at all. And if you don’t do it, you simply will not ever get free traffic from Google.

How To Write An Article For Internet Marketing

Article marketing is a concept that can greatly boost the capabilities of a website, but unfortunately getting started with it tends to feel tedious or overwhelming. Article marketing is not a difficult task, however, so if you are serious about utilizing this form of internet marketing, the following steps outlined below will give you a good boost in the right direction.

Here is the basic information that you need to know when you want to learn how to write an article for internet marketing:

1 – The first thing to know is that article marketing has numerous objectives. The first is to generate keyword driven content that relates to your niche. The second is to create a link back to your website that search engines and potential visitors can follow. The third objective is simply to get your name out there as an authority on whatever subject you are trying to sell. All three of these objectives are important and should be considered when writing an internet marketing article.

2 – Internet marketing articles can range significantly in word count, but readers tend to prefer articles between 450 and 750 words. Your article should use friendly and easy to read language, small paragraphs and headers to break up the text whenever possible.

3 – Your article should focus on a topic relating to your website, and it should primarily intend to inform potential readers. If the people who read your article feel like you know what you are talking about, they will travel through your link to your website to learn more information on the topic.

4 – If you really do understand your niche or product, writing about it should not be difficult. If you are not sure where to begin, visit online article syndication websites to get a feel for what is already available online and proceed from there. If you still need assistance, consider contacting a professional copywriter to help you put your article marketing content together. Article marketing is such a vital part of attracting visitors to your websites that you really need to get it right.

5 – Once your article is written, make sure it includes a call to action that invites readers to visit your website for more information. This will be at the bottom of your article, and should include a link to your website.

When your article is submitted to article directories, it will allow people searching for information on the topic to find the information you are providing. If they are impressed with your level of expertise, they will follow your link back to your website for more information. Article marketing is an excellent way to build traffic to your website while providing valuable links to build page rank in search engines like Google, while simultaneously building your reputation as an authority on the subject at hand. If you are not already participating in this vital form of marketing for your website, you could be missing out on traffic that simply does not know how or where to find you.
